Dorothy C. Hayes, 65, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She was born on September 12, 1960, at the family home near South Coffeyville, Oklahoma to Everett and Wilda (Johnston) McCabe. Dorothy grew up in Nowata County attending school at Alluwe and Lenapah.
On February 11, 1994, she married Lester Allen Hayes at Independence, Kansas. Following their marriage, they made their home in the Rolla, Missouri area. Her husband preceded her in death on April 14, 1996. After her husband death she continued making her home in the Rolla area where she raised their son. Dorothy returned to Coffeyville in 2010.
Dorothy attended the Church of God. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing cards.
Survivors include one son, Lester Allen Hayes of St. James, Missouri, and one brother, David McCabe of Coffeyville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Wilda McCabe, her husband, Lester Hayes and sister Sue McCabe.
Friends may call on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
A Graveside Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Miller Cemetery north of Rolla, Missouri.
