Dorothy Hickman

Dorothy N. Hickman passed away peacefully in her home on October 20, 2024. She was born November 10, 1937 in Lafayette, Indiana, to the late Richard Russell Denham and Dorothy (Griswold) Denham. On November 28, 1953, she married Donald Eugene Hickman, Sr. who preceded her in death. She was a member of The Sanctuary Delphi Pentecostal Church.
Dorothy was a gifted and accomplished musician and writer. Her life was filled with creative expression through words and music. She was a member of Songwriter's Association of Mid-North Indiana and American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). She authored thousands of songs, poems, and stories that she loved sharing with friends and family.
Surviving are her children: Donald Eugene Hickman Jr. (Merry), Holly Ann Stewart (Timothy), Karen Kay Breen (Robert), and Pamela Jean Hickman. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Jennifer Nordyke (Mike), Emily Stone (Tony), Hannah Richards (Mark), Donald Hickman III, Richard Stewart (Diane), Qiana Sandora (Drew), Timothy Stewart (Josleyn), Leigh-Brooke Alana Mabbitt (John), Jill Radke (Randy), Clint Holmes (Jennifer), and Julia May (Lonnie). In addition, she is survived by 37 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
Dorothy was blessed with many bonus grandchildren who survive: Donna Barkley (Andrew), Joseph Donovan (Annette), Richard Donovan (Vanessa), Lorna Donovan, James Hall, Matthew Schenkel (Irma), Daniel Schenkel (Victoria), and Erica Draper.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Carol Jo Clawson of Delphi, Indiana, who was a faithful and loving caregiver in her final years. She is also survived by her brother, James Allen Denham, of Kansas.
Proceeding her in death, along with her parents and husband Donald, are her siblings: Richard Denham, Viola (Pug) Martin, Mary Walters, Dolores Martin, Frank Denham, Carl Denham, William Denham, and Lawrence Denham.
Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
