Dorothy Long Simmons, 79, of Huntsville, passed away December 19, 2024. Mrs. Simmons worked many years and retired as an Office Administrator from NASA. She had many hobbies, such as quilting, painting pictures and figurines, and working with flowers.
Survivors include two sisters, Judy L. Gaut and Kathy L. Brewster (Henry); special niece, Leslie B. Allen (Ross); special great–nephew and niece, Lucas and Emily Ross Allen; stepsons, Bill Simmons III (Nancy), Bradley Minter Simmons (Vanessa), Barry Neilson Simmons (Xan), and Brian Allen Simmons; 8 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William K. Simmons, Jr.; parents, Roy Edward and Vivian Long; brother, Jerry Long; and grandson, Brandon Simmons.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. William Hix officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
