Dorothy Ann Mahon, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
She was born on January 13, 1933, to the late Richard and Mary "Eileen" Johnson.
She was raised on the family farm in Kenockee Township, MI, where she was the second oldest of 17 children and responsible for a lot at a young age. She had to help put food on the table, clean, watch her siblings and help work the fields.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Richard (Angela) Mahon, Nancy Mahon and grandson, Evan (Mary) Mahon. She is also survived by siblings, Sister June Johnson IHM, Helen (Jerry) Werthman, Janet Maxwell, Suzanne Neaton, Ed (Debbie) Johnson, Ellen Brandon, Raymond (Kathy) Johnson, Mary Leigh (Larry) Powers; sister-in-law, Helen Johnson; brother-in-law, Bill Parrish.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and in-laws, Leroy Johnson, Russ (Penny) Johnson, Gail (George) Jacobson, Eileen (Bob) Kramer, Bruce (Ann) Johnson, Marion (Danny) Hillis, Madelyon Parrish, Lois (Jim) Hyde; Bruce Maxwell, Jerry Neaton and Bill Brandon.
Dorothy was devoted to her Catholic religion. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, shaping the compassion and generosity she so freely offered to others. In her younger years she was involved in the Parents Without Partners Club, where she made lifelong friends and shared her love of the outdoors. Dorothy had a zest for life and found joy in ballroom dancing, golfing, traveling, boating, and snow skiing. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family. She especially loved sitting at the kitchen table on the family farm, catching up with her siblings and others that dropped by regularly. There was always a lot to catch up on. Dorothy was the first to arrive when someone was in need. Whether offering a listening ear or a helping hand, she gave freely of herself. She also had a remarkable love for cleaning, something she truly enjoyed and took pride in. Dorothy suffered with dementia for the last 10 years. She happily lived at Commonwealth Senior Living for the last 7 years.
The family honors the memory of Dorothy and invites you to the Rite of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Tom Kuehnemund, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel - Kenockee Cemetery.
