Dorothy Pettay Obituary
Dorothy Ann Pettay, age 82, of Navarre, while in the comfort of her own home, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 15, 2024. Born in Canton, April 3, 1942, she was a devout and faithful member of Faith Community Fellowship in Massillon. Dorothy was a cafeteria manager in the Perry Local Schools and worked as a custodian at Richville United Church of Christ for over 20 years.
She loved making Sunday dinners for the family.
Preceded in death by two loving brothers, Richard (Anita) Foutz, and James (Karen) Foutz; Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 63 "wonderful" years, Gary L Pettay; and her beloved children, Gary (Leslie) Pettay, Michael (Debbie) Pettay, and Jason Pettay. She loved all nine of her grandchildren; each of her 3-1/2 great-grandchildren; and her third brother Ray (Jenny) Foutz.
Family and friends will gather in worship and celebration of Dorothy's life with Pastor Mike Kager at Faith Community Fellowship, at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024. The family will receive condolences in the church, prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Henry Warstler Cemetery in North Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Community Fellowship 1303 - 9th St. SW., Massillon, OH. 44647.

I will always remember when I went to her house one day and grandpa Gary, grandma Dorothy, and I just sat there talking for 3 hours straight. Grandma told me all about her past. I gained so much respect for her that day. The way she has went through some of the most terrible things, and still managed to love everyone so deeply will always amaze me. She was the strongest woman I have ever known. She created a family of her own and loved them with all her heart so they never had to feel the way she felt when she was a child. That is something I will always remember.

My grandma taught me so many things. The most important thing that she taught me was her love for God. She inspired me everyday with her faith. When she passed, she wanted me to have her bible. Even with her not here with me, she will continue to guide me on my journey with God through her bible.

When my cousin would come down, we would always have a list of things we wanted to do. Grandma Dorothy would make sure we hit everything on our list. Even if she was tired and stayed in the car while we shopped. The most selfless woman I have ever known.
