Everett L. Pettay, 87, passed away on July 19, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society - Hutchinson Village in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was born on December 24, 1937, in Helena, OK to Rufus and Ruth (Miller) Pettay.
Everett loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a storyteller to whomever would listen and knew all the best gossip. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Ruth; several brothers and sisters; and a sister-in-law, Vi Pettay.
Everett is survived by his daughter, Karen (Mark) Spanyer; son, Thomas (Melissa) Pettay; brother, Jack Pettay; four grandchildren, Leslie (Steven) Richey, Christopher Pettay, Erik Pettay and Kyle Pettay; seven great grandchildren, Adam, Victoria, Ethan Pettay, Michael Richey, Daniel and Kolton Pettay, Mary Ann Richey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson, KS. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time on July 24, 2025. Memorials are suggested to the Gentiva Hospice and can be sent in care of Hutchinson Funeral Chapel.
