Dorothy E. Reed, 88, passed from this life on November 17, 2025, at 12:08 a.m. at Brown County Health and Living.
Born on September 20, 1937 in Patoka, Indiana, Dorothy's life began as the beloved daughter of William and Maggie Peirson Hulfachor. Her journey through life was one of love, compassion, and joy that touched the hearts of everyone she encountered.
On May 23, 1958, Dorothy's life was beautifully interwoven with that of Herbert L. Reed as they married and embarked upon a life filled with shared moments and cherished memories. Through her unwavering support and affection, Dorothy epitomized what it means to care for a partner, demonstrating through actions the depth of her commitment and love.
Dorothy's vibrant spirit was a beacon of warmth within her family. Her life is celebrated by her siblings, Janice Smith, Barbara Krebbs, Mary Smith, Linda Shotts, Geanie Lemon, Katherine Tyree, Donnie Hulfachor, and Paul Hulfachor; and also several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert, and her siblings Rosie Hulfachor, Ethel Hogg, Norman Hulfachor, and Cappy Hulfachor. Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate in the lives of those who were lucky enough to know her.
Dorothy had an immense affection for cats, and her kindness spilled over to the birds and squirrels she fed with gentleness and delight. A testament to her vibrant spirit, Dorothy found joy and solace in music, with Elvis Presley holding a special place in her heart. Her passion for the outdoors was evident in the way she immersed herself in the simple pleasures of nature, finding contentment in the rustling of leaves and the whispers of the wind. Dorothy expressed her love through sumptuous meals and delectable baked treats.
Services have been entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.
In keeping with Dorothy's wishes cremation will take place and no services are scheduled at this time.
