Dorothy (Janik) Rogalski, 88, of West Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, September 23 at The Atrium at Cardinal Drive in Agawam. Born on December 14, 1936, she was the daughter of Joseph Janik and Mary (Padykula) Janik. She lived in West Springfield for 68 years and was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Dorothy was a homemaker, devoting her time to raising her six children. She loved to read mysteries, doing puzzles of all kinds, and followed all the Boston professional sports teams. She and her husband Joseph were fixtures at all their children’s sporting events all the way through college, traveling across New England and never missing a game.
After her husband passed away in 1989, Dorothy cherished her time with her children and grandchildren, attending craft fairs, family barbecues, school and sporting events for her grandchildren, high school and college graduations and weddings. She looked forward to celebrating her birthday each year with a family brunch. She also enjoyed several trips to New York City with her children, taking in the sights, shopping and attending Broadway shows.
She is survived by her children Joseph and Jeffrey of West Springfield, John and his wife Laura of Southington, CT, Jennifer and her husband Brian Page of Scottsdale, AZ, Jill and her husband Michael Mertes of Holyoke, MA and Jamie and his wife Jennifer of Wake Forest, NC, along with six grandchildren (Jeremy and his wife Melissa, Kaitlyn and her husband Spencer Duffany, Michael, Andrew, Joseph and Thomas) and a great grandchild (Jameson Duffany). In addition to her husband Joseph, she was predeceased by her grandson Jack and her brother John Janik.
At the request of the family, services for Dorothy will be private and have neem entrusted to TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to: MSPCA-Angell, Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130
