Barbara S. Thomas

Barbara S. Thomas passed away on March 1 in East Longmeadow. She was 92 years old. Born in Worcester on November 26, 1933, she was one of 3 children born to the late Edward and Ruth (Folschild) Salmon. Barbara was raised in Worcester where she graduated from South High School in 1951. She worked at State Mutual Life Assurance Company for several years before retiring to focus her energy on raising her family.

Barbara was devoted to her husband Clark A. F. Thomas for 55 years until his passing in 2012. They lived in Greenfield and together they enjoyed many activities including golf, archery and ballroom dancing. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Greenfield Country Club and the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children for many years.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her daughters Lisa Thomas of South Hadley and Ruth (Thomas, Jr.) O’Donnell of Longmeadow; grandchildren Thomas and Norah O’Donnell of Longmeadow; Sister-in-law Shirley Bodreau and Niece Marjorie McCarthy of Auburn, MA and Nephew Donald (Denise) Sneade of Rome, GA.

Memorial Service and Committal will be private at a later date. All arrangements have been entrusted to TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME.
