Dorothy "Dollie" Marie Russell (nee Johnston) passed away surrounded by her family on December 1, 2023 at age 88. Born in Audubon, NJ to Dorothy and William Johnston. She is predeceased by her brothers William and Gerald and her grandson Shawn Jacobs. Survived by her 4 children Cathy Dadds (William), Harold Russell (Nancy), Cynthia Garretson (Gary), and Deron Russell(Christine); grandchildren William Dadds (Tiffany), Jennifer Taylor (Matthew), Emily Cook (Sean), Andrew Dadds (Alexis), Matthew Russell (Ali), Caitlyn Oswald (Isaiah), Rachel Federici (Tom), Christine Escobedo (Mario), Sarah Alcantara (Joel), Megan Pigliacelli (Daniel), Ashley Russell (Pat), and Brett Russell; and great-grandchildren Theo, Camila, Penelope, Kian, Victoria, Samuel, Finley, Mya, Chloe, Francis, Aurora, and Josephine. Also survived by her sister Virginia Creamer (Joseph) and brother Mike Johnston (Barbara) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dollie attended St. Rose for grade school and graduated from Camden Catholic in 1953. She worked as an administrative assistant for Stone and Webster and office manager for Ethylene Atlantic Corporation. Dollie enjoyed traveling with family and friends, dancing, crafting, attending craft shows with her sister, listening to Elvis, and watching the Eagles. She loved going to Ocean City, NJ for family vacations. Dollie was a long-time resident of Audubon, however, moved to West Deptford in 1985 where she hosted Easter brunch and pool parties at her condo. She moved from West Deptford to Bellmawr Senior Housing in 2009 where Dollie became actively engaged in the Welcoming Committee, bingo, chair yoga, and planning events and holiday gatherings. Dollie is remembered by her family and friends for her kindness and loving personality.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Friday, December 29th from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the St. Rose of Lima Church, 4th Avenue and Kings Highway, Haddon Heights where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org)
