Dorothy Skidmore

Dorothy "Dottie" Skidmore, age 64, of Elizabeth City, NC, died at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center on Thursday, October 9, 2025. She was born in Norfolk, VA, on October 24, 1960, to the late Billy Moore and Mary Laney Elliott. Dorothy was the wife of Brant Skidmore, and also the daughter of Edward Elliott. She was very active in her Life Net Community.
Dottie is survived by her sisters, Sherri Everett (Bill) of NC, Kimberly Haithcock of NC, and Karen Ervin of AZ; brother, Justin Moore of TX; grandchildren, Courtney Marie Heath (Kameron), Emily Kaylin Moore, Ashley Breann Riddick, and Joshua Gage Heath; great-grandchildren, Willow Nicole Duran, Raelynn Wilson, Cincere Wilson, and one on the way, Paislee Duran; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews; and goddaughter, Krystle Maynard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lauren Nicole Heath; brother, Shannon Moore; and grandchild, Daniel Anthony Heath.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Twiford Memorial Chapel, with Tracey Bradshaw officiating. A visitation will take place from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Twiford Memorial Chapel. Dottie's service will be live streamed on her obituary page at www.twifordfh.com.
