Mary enjoyed the outdoors and loved camping. She and her husband attended Olivet Lakes Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by a daughter, Candy Hewitt (Johnny) of Woodville, NC; a son, Randy Umphlett (Nikki) of Elizabeth City, NC; two sisters, Ruth Smithson and Eleanor Strahan; seven grandchildren, McKenzie, Matthew, Chloe, Carter, Grace, Brian, and Amber; one great-grandchild, Charlie; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Hudson and Joyce Jennings; and a brother, Milton Everette Morgan, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Twiford Memorial Chapel with Pastor Anthony Ralph officiating. Burial will be at the Morgan Family Cemetery in Camden, NC. The family will greet family and friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
