Dorothy Smith

Dorothy Goodwin Smith, age 79, of Candor, passed away on March 3, 2026, at her residence.

Dorothy was born on January 1, 1947, in Anson County to Glenn and Lula Tucker Goodwin. Dorothy worked for many years in the hosiery mill until her retirement. She enjoyed watching sports and movies, but most of all she loved her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Lee Smith, infant daughter Audrey Lynn Smith, granddaughter Krista Donielle Smith, brothers Ronnie Goodwin, Freddie Goodwin, Ed Goodwin and Don Goodwin.

She is survived by her sons, Daryl Smith (Kim) of Mt. Pleasant, Terry Smith (Tammy) of Greensboro and Jerry Smith (Jessica) of Stokesdale, sisters Martha Overton of Eagle Springs and Pat Bates of Robbins and brother Bernie Goodwin (Ruby) of Biscoe. As well as grandchildren Brooke, Brandon, TJ, Taylor, Caeleb, Jaxon and Solomon and great grandchildren Cameron, Lucas and Ella.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-1:45 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Dorothy's memory to the Krista Foundation, 8307 Moritz Dr., Stokesdale, NC 27357 or Hospice of Randolph, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
