Dorothy Lynn Sutton

On the evening of July 4, 2025, Dorothy Lynn Sutton, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, at the age of 69.

Dorothy was born on November 21, 1955, in Tulsa, OK, to Jessie Sutton and Dorothy Ann (Duncan) Sutton.

She married Jimmy Gilbert, and the couple had three children together: Clayton, Kathryn, and Christina. The family moved to Bartlesville in 1988. In 1996, Jimmy and Dorothy had a house built for their family, the same home that Dorothy was currently living in at the time of her passing. After moving to Bartlesville, Dorothy was employed with Silver Lake Care Center, where she worked as a housekeeper supervisor for 12 years. After leaving that position, Dorothy worked in a few other jobs positions, before retiring.

In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed being outside, watching the sunset and feeling the wind on her face. In her younger years, she enjoyed reading books and sewing. As she grew older, she enjoyed putting together puzzles. Dorothy’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren and family. Dorothy had a wonderful sense of humor, could be onery, and loved to joke with people. She will be missed by all who loved her.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents: Jessie and Dorothy Sutton; her husband: Jimmy Gilbert; her children: Clayton Gilbert and Kathryn “Katie” Jones; her siblings: Jessie Sutton, Jr, Henry Sutton, Jan Williams, and Yarbera Krick; and her niece: Molly Farrier.

Those left to cherish the memory of Dorothy include her daughter: Christina Gilbert; her grandchildren: Corey Jones, Brian Barnes, Cashden Gilbert, Makinzi Gilbert, and Kihlyn Gilbert; her son-in-law: Jason Jones; her sister-in-law: Debbie Wier; her niece: Tammy Reynolds

A memorial service for Dorothy will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel in Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemoriesbartlesville.com.
