Dorothy Martin Fulgham Wallace, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 98. Born on May 22, 1927, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, Dorothy lived a life dedicated to her family, faith, and her community.
Dorothy's professional journey was marked by her compassionate service as a nurse at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Mississippi. Her commitment to caring for others exemplified her nurturing spirit and deep-seated belief in the power of healing.
A proud member of Hope Baptist Church and Harvest Baptist Church, Dorothy actively participated in church activities throughout her life. She was previously a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greenville. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her in all aspects of her life.
Dorothy had a diverse array of interests and hobbies that enriched her life. She loved sewing, quilting, and ceramics, often immersing herself in these creative pursuits. An avid thrift and clothes shopper, she found joy in discovering unique treasures. Dorothy also took great pleasure in attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm and support.
Dorothy's legacy will live on through her large and loving family. She is survived by her children, Joseph (Connie) Martin, Darlene (Buddy) Howard, and Rita (David) Cochran; her sister, Elizabeth Charlene Clark; and her cherished grandchildren, 12 in total, along with 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Austin Martin and Sarah Elizabeth James; her husbands, John Martin, Edwin Fulgham, and Charles Wallace; her siblings, Junious Howard Martin, Neter Inez Martin, Mary Christeen Yates, Lucian Lamar Martin, Roy Austin Martin, Paul Duvis Martin, and Jimmy Wedell Martin; as well as her children, Marie Martin Legere and John Austin Martin.
Family, friends, and all whose lives Dorothy touched are invited to gather for a visitation on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, followed by a funeral service beginning at 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Hope Cemetery, 13001 MS 488, Philadelphia, Mississippi, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made in her honor and memory to Harvest Baptist Church, Building Fund, 15523 Landon Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
Dorothy Martin Fulgham Wallace will be remembered for her kindness, love, and the enduring impact she made on those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and family that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
