Dorothy Jean Werner, age 85 gracefully entered eternal rest on June 11th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith. Dorothy was born December 30th of 1939 to Charles and Thelma Miller in Saranac, MI of Keen Twp. As a devoted wife to Donald Alvin Werner Sr,wedded on August 8th of 1959 in Muir, MI. Dorothy was a loving homemaker. She spent her time working at the Palo School, and helping Don manage the Palo Cemetery, where she took pride in honoring the past and the present.
Dorothy, a familiar face at the Ionia Free Fair, looked forward to it each year, not only for the treats, but to be surrounded by friends and family. Dorothy's grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of her eye.
Dorothy leaves behind Children, Donald (Tammy) Werner of Howard City, and Darlene (Michael Antonides) Powell, grandchildren, Samantha (Bob) McCarn, Jason (Mamie) Thayer, Kevin (Serena) Powell and Donavin Werner and great grandchildren, Austin, Ethan, Mathew, Braxton, Bailee, Brystol and Cooper, and sister, Dolores Graham of Ionia
Dorothy attended Shiloh Community Church, where her love for tradition, service and togetherness will always be remembered. Dorothy spent her final year at Green Acres of Lowell, MI.
Dorothy is preceded in death by husband, Donald, brothers Dan, Darwin, Don, Duke and Darrell, as well as sisters Donna and Della.
Services will be held at Lake Funeral Homes in Ionia, 12:00 pm, Monday, June 16th, with Pastor John Prominski officiating, with Luncheon to follow at Steele St. Hall, 115 S. Steele St. Ionia, MI. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 15th from 6:00-8:00 pm and Monday one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
