Dorothy "Dot" A. Williams, age 89, passed away on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 in Swainsboro, GA. Dot was born on October 9th, 1935 to the late Sam Warren and Magdalene Elliott Warren, one of 12 children. She was born and raised in Corbin, KY and worked for Colonel Sanders when she was 16 at what became the original Kentucky Fried Chicken. Dot married Calvin C. Williams who was in the United States Air Force and they lived in many places including New York, Illinois, Jacksonville, FL and finally settling in Georgia in 1971. They made Statesboro their home in 1978 where she owned and operated Dot's Tot's, a daycare, for over a decade. Dot was also a very faithful and dedicated member to all of the churches they belonged to. She taught Sunday school, worked in church offices, and is where she found her love of working with children. In addition to her parents, Dot was also preceded in death by her husband and 7 of her siblings.
She is survived by her three children, Linda Campbell, Jeff Williams, and Calvin (Vicki) Williams, her grandchildren, Michael Durden, Daniel Durden (April), Brad Williams, Rachel Harris, Zach Williams, Addi Morris, and Alainah Williams, many great-grandchildren, her brother, Billy Warren, her sisters, Wanda Wimberly, Jean Clark, Brenda Lloyd, and Debbie Fowler, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, August 6th from 10:00am until 11:00am at East Main Street Church of God. The funeral will follow at 11:00am with pastor Lelon Jeffers officiating.
Interment will be at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
