Dorris Caldwell was born on May 29, 1932 in Chandler, Oklahoma where she grew up and built a
life filled with love, faith, and kindness. She was baptized at an early age and graduated as
valedictorian of Douglass High School. She used her intelligence to spark a love of learning in
her family, many of whom became college graduates.
Dorris Caldwell was the heart of her family, known for her warm smile, generous spirit, and the
countless meals she lovingly prepared for those she cherished. She dedicated her life to her
family and community, always offering a helping hand and a kind word to everyone she met.
She was a devoted wife of 29 years to Rayfield Caldwell Sr. who preceded her in death in 1979.
They enjoyed Sunday drives, gardening and BBQ. To this union, four children were born: Nelrita
Caldwell, Rayfield Caldwell Jr., Marcella Caldwell and Andrea Caldwell.
Dorris was a devoted mother, grandmother of 9, great-grandmother of 18 and great great
grandmother of 6 . Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her loved ones. Her
home was filled with laughter, word search puzzles, stories, and the aroma of her dressing,
peach cobblers and sweet potato pies. She passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025 and
leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom. Her family will forever cherish the memories and
lessons she imparted.
Dorris Caldwell was a pillar of strength, faith, and love, and though she will be deeply missed,
