Dorris M. Frei, 54, of Sheboygan, passed away Thursday morning, July 10, 2025 at Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County following a courageous 3 year battle with lung cancer.
Born November 22, 1970 in Grannis, Arkansas, Dorris was a daughter of the late Milo and Joyce Harter. She attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1989. She was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Benirschke-Frei until separation in 1998.
Dorris worked in Sheboygan at many gas stations, Burger King, and was a caregiver at nursing homes. She loved to play bingo, going to the casino to gamble, and scratch offs. She enjoyed taking rides in the car to look for deer and going camping with her family. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandchildren and family. She will always be remembered for her willingness to help others and her big heart.
She is survived by her children, Adam Benirschke, Erica (Nathan Yuenger) Benirschke, and Jade (Corey) Kornetzke; her grandchildren, Bryson and Cooper Benirschke, and Paisley and Asher Kornetzke; her brother, Milo Harter, Jr.; her sister, Ruby Harter; other relatives including the Lueck family, lots of nieces, nephews and many friends.
She is further survived by her special friends, Jerry Erwin who helped raise her children since 2002, and of the last 9 years with Troy Spangenberg
Besides her parents, Milo and Joyce, she was preceded in death by her son, Brian P. Benirschke and family dog Babygirl.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
The family would like to thank the doctors nurses and staff of Aurora Medical Center, Aurora Hospice, especially The Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, as well as the Lueck, Benirschke and Frei families for all of their loving care and support.
