Dortha Mae Lanham Johnson, 92, of Knottsville, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Carmel Home, surrounded by her family. She was born June 3, 1933, in Daviess County to the late John Dallas “Peck” and Pearl Mae Knable Lanham. Dortha was a lifetime parishioner at St. William Catholic Church, worked at G.E. for 5 years, the Bishop Soennecker Home for 9 years, and retired from the Carmel Home after 12 years of dedicated service. She also enjoyed embroidery, quilting, sewing, flowers, cooking, crafts, and helping out on the farm.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Raphael “Lawrence” Johnson; a daughter, Jeanetta Ballard; 2 sons, Randall and Bruce Johnson; a grandson, Adam Johnson; a sister, Mary Edith Lanham; and 3 brothers, Joseph “Jake” Lanham, Paul Lanham, and Irvin Lanham.
Dortha is survived by her 4 sons, Larry (Jody) Johnson of Whitesville, Kenny Johnson and Patrick Johnson of Knottsville and Joe (Carla) Johnson of Louisville; 3 daughters, Susan (Ronnie) Bickett of Whitesville, Ann Allen of Knottsville, and Cindy (Barry) Mills of Philpot; 38 grandchildren; 89 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Merici Carrico.
The funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville. Burial will be at St. William Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 until 7 PM, with prayers at 6 p.m., at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and on Wednesday from 9 until 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
