Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory - OwensboroPatricia (Hayden) Osborne, 92, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, November 12, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 15, 1933, to the late Noel and Mabel Hayden. Patricia was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church.
A proud graduate of St. Francis Academy, Patricia pursued her passion for helping others by earning her nursing degree from St. Mary Nursing School. Prior to starting her family she worked as a registered nurse at Daviess County Hospital and Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, where her compassion and expertise made a significant impact on the lives of many.
Patricia's commitment to her family extended beyond her professional career. Alongside her husband and son, Robert, she spent many years running the fryer at their family-owned business, The Big Dipper. Her efforts at home were equally commendable, where she embraced the role of a homemaker with grace and love. Patricia was known for her weekly Sunday gatherings and her culinary talents shone through in her famous rum cakes, which she generously shared during the Christmas season.
An avid enthusiast of history, particularly genealogy, Patricia dedicated much of her time to exploring family roots and preserving historical records, alongside Larry and Marsha Allen. Her passions did not stop there; she enjoyed antiquing, crocheting, embroidery, and quilting. Patricia also took great pleasure in gardening and canning, with green beans being a special highlight of her harvests.
Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world alongside her best friend, Janie Hayden, embarking on travels that took them to remarkable places such as Rome, Poland, Israel, Canada, and Spain. These experiences enriched Patricia's life, and she cherished the memories created during these journeys.
In addition to her parents, Patricia is preceded in death by her loving husband, George Osborne; and sisters, Barbara Sparks (Marion) and Joyce Riney (Bobby).
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Mark Osborne (Bianca), Karen Osborne, Paul Osborne (Colette), Robert Osborne (Terry) and Laura Allison (Wes); grandchildren, Jessica Allison, R.T. Taylor, Bradley Osborne, Danielle Osborne Mobley, Ryan Osborne, Amanda Taylor, Jordan Allison, Serena Osborne Rich, Colby Osborne, Renwick Osborne and Derek Osborne; as well as 19 great-grandchildren, and her closest friends, Janie Hayden, Juanita Clark and Martha Riney.
The funeral Mass for Patricia will be 10 AM Monday, November 17, at St. Martin Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday, from 3 PM until 7 PM at the funeral home, with prayers taking place at 6:30, and Monday from 9 AM until time of service at the church.
