Cherrell Jean Jacobsen, 69, of Owensboro, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and true friend, sadly passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, with her family at her side, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born April 30, 1956 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to the late Sharon and Gene Gamet moving to Owensboro in 2019. Cherrell was a highly educated and well respected medical professional. In 1983, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and then took the position of County Coroner in Idaho Falls, only giving up her job to become her husband’s full time caregiver. Cherrell was also preceded in death by her brother, Tony Gamet.
Cherrell was a true humanitarian heading up “Gifts of Love” which made sure all children and the elderly received a Christmas gift. She also crocheted blankets and caps for babies born sleeping so parents could have a keepsake. Cherrell also enjoyed cooking and baking wonderful treats for all her family and friends. Cherrell was the person everyone went to in a time of need and she was always happy to help them. She had such a big heart and if she loved you, she loved deep.
Cherrell is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jake Jacobsen; her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Fiona Jordan; and all her loving grandchildren.
We are truly honored to have had Cherrell in our lives. She will be loved and missed everyday. She is gone, but will never be forgotten.
