Dortha May Webb, better known as Dorothy, was born May 3, 1945, in Jackson County, Kentucky, to the loving parents of Raymond and Sophia Wagers Gray. The Lord called her to her Heavenly home on May 28, 2025, after a long illness at her residence at Birch Lick. She was 80 years old.
Dortha was united in marriage to Ronald Lee Webb on June 15, 1965. From this union of almost 60 years came 4 children: Kathy Abrams and her husband Odell; Diane Isaacs and her husband Terry; Marvin Webb and his fiancée Mary Ruth Isaacs; and Darlene Rader and her husband Marty. She is survived by 7 grandchildren: Jalisa Tinker and her husband Josh; Elmer Rader and his wife Lindsey; Matthew Rader; Whitney Webb and her boyfriend David Casada; Martina Rader; Nathan Webb; and Noah Rader; and 3 great grandchildren: Jericho and Jedidiah Tinker; and Eva Rader.
Dortha is survived by 1 brother and 4 sisters: Billy Gray, Lorene Isaacs, Geraldine Smith, Daisy Faye Gray, and Lois Gabbard.
Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her mother and father- in-law, Marion and Ivory Webb, as well as 6 siblings: Evelyeen Damron, Junior Gray, Delmar Gray, Morris Gene Gray; and 2 infant siblings, June and Leslie Gray. She was a member of Warfork Holiness Church.
We were blessed to be able to have family who stepped in as caregivers. Dortha's children, grandchildren, sons-in-laws, and future daughter-in-law, as well as her sister Lorene, provided tender loving care during the last 7 1/2 months of her life after her husband passed away.
Dortha worked at Eastern Kentucky University for 27 years. She was also a Godly wife, mother, mother-in-law. and grandmother. She was trustworthy, practical, and hardworking. She served as a prime example of the virtuous woman whose price is far above rubies as described in the Bible.
Proverbs 31:25-28 says:
25 Strength an honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Dortha Webb will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
