Dottie Rae Wolfe died peacefully in her sleep just after midnight on February 5, 2022 at the age of 68, in Westcliffe, CO, after many years of progressive brain damage. Dottie Rae, or Dot, was born June 6, 1953 in Pasadena Texas, to Ray and Phyllis (Pahl) Dunkel. She lived many years in Pennsylvania, Alaska, Virginia, and Colorado. Dottie Rae enjoyed many varied things in her life, from line cooking, working on ski mountains, fishing in Alaska, homeschooling, paralegal studies, and completed the highest level of pilates instruction as a Masters Pilates Trainer. She owned and operated her own pilates studio in Westcliffe before illness forced her to close. In September 2013, she married Leroy Wolfe in Westcliffe, CO. Dottie Rae had a passion for pilates, good food, animals, the wild places, her Christian faith, and especially her husband and grandchildren.
Dottie Rae was preceded in death by her father Ray or "Dunk." She is survived by her husband Leroy (Westcliffe, CO), her daughter Hannah (Jason) Carr (Colorado Springs) her mother Phyllis Dunkel (Hollidaysburg, PA), her four grandchildren, Daniel, Phoebe, Benjamin, Abigail, her sisters Karen Biddle (Bedford, PA) and Donna (Ralph) Himes (Hollidaysburg, PA), and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She's also survived by her former husband, Larry Falldorf (Anchorage, AK), and her faithful dog Dalton.
Special thanks to Jennifer Trusty, Peaks of Hope Home Health, Fremont Regional Hospice, and especially the medical offices of Dr. Stephen Barbee. A private celebration of life will take place in the summer. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Peaks of Hope Home Health at 1661 Co Rd 170 Westcliffe, CO 81252.
