Doug Kuczek, 69, passed away suddenly on October 31, 2025, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY. Born on September 2, 1956 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Steve and Clara (Pikul) Kuczek.
After graduating from Scotia Glenville High School in 1974 and receiving his associate's degree from Schenectady County Community College, Doug dedicated 35 years of his life as an auditor for the NYS Department of Tax and Finance before retiring in 2013. His meticulous work and amiable nature earned him the respect and friendship of colleagues throughout his career.
On November 29, 2003, Doug married the love of his life, Victoria "Vicki" Albert, and together they shared many adventures. Whether traveling to Cape Cod, experiencing the scenic beauty of the Finger Lakes, or simply enjoying the comfort of their home, Doug and Vicki's companionship was a testament to their enduring love.
Doug's interests were a reflection of a man who loved experiencing life to the fullest. His adoration for Pittsburgh sports was unmatched, joyfully supporting the Steelers and Penguins through every season. A music aficionado, Doug amassed a significant collection of vinyl and CDs. His passion was further evident in his love for classic movies, transporting him to different eras and adventures.
He was a member at the Scotia Glenville Senior Center, where he connected with his community and built lasting relationships. Fridays were sacred for Doug and his good friend Terry McKenna as they engaged in their weekly game of pool-a ritual that brought him immense happiness. Active and enthusiastic, Doug enjoyed bike riding, walking, and especially reveled in quieter moments spent with his beloved cats and immersed in a book or a challenging daily crossword puzzle. His simple joy of feeding the birds was a tranquil pursuit that brought him peace.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Victoria "Vicki" Albert, his sisters and brother Pamela Snyder (the late William), Katherine VanWormer (John), Beth O'Brian (Tim) and Stephen Kuczek (Nancy). His brother-in-law, John Albert (Tina), and nieces and nephews, Matt, Amy, John, Dan, Kate, Erin, Keri, Bryan, Nick, Alex, Zoe, Sophia, and several great nieces and nephews. Doug is also survived by his feline companions Nox and Luna.
In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Annette and John Albert, and his feline companion, Huggy.
Calling hours for Doug will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 10 am to 12 pm at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville. A funeral service will follow at 12 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
