Doug Lowther

Albany George Douglas Lowther, 76, Albany, passed away Sunday March 15, 2026, at Ohio Health Hospice House,

Columbus, Ohio.

Born June 1, 1949, in Meigs County, Ohio, he was the son of the late George Jackson and

Amy Perry Lowther. Doug retired from Ohio University. His hobbies were working on vintage

tractors, tinkering in the barn on projects on the family farm, and socializing with friends,

sharing his stories. He was a member of Albany Masonic Lodge #723, Scottish Rite, 32nd degree,

and Shriners, Albany VFW Post 9893, Life member of Sons, Albany Amvets Post 93, Athens American Legion Post 21, and Athens Redmen Lodge. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to our neighbors, friends and family for all you help over the last several years. Special thanks to Mark "Frosty"

and Glenda Frost, Jeff "Salty" and Sarah Birchfield and April Vandagriff.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 58 years April Higginbotham Lowther, their children

Stephanie Walker, Wendy (Curt) Cline, and Chet (April) Lowther; grandchildren Kelsi (Brad) Amerine,

Kayla (Chase Gould) Cline, Wesley (Erin Canter) Cline, and Mason Lowther and sister Kathy (Gary) Spencer.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son in law Tim Walker and Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Coy and Madge Higginbotham.

Services are Sunday March 22, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home, with Pastor Donnie Quesinberry officiating. Burial will be in Castor Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday 5-7 P.M.,

with Masonic services at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
