George Douglas "Doug" West, age 72, of Thomasville, GA, passed away on March 30, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
Doug was born on January 25, 1953, in Savannah, Georgia, to Elise Bradley West. He attended Thomasville High School and later served in the U.S. Coast Guard, completing two tours in over eight years of service. He built a career in the transport industry, working with CMI Cairo and Calmart Industries. He spent his final years working for Suzy Q's BP in Thomasville, where he truly enjoyed working with his fellow co-workers. Doug was always known to be very hard working,it was rare to see him sitting around. He was sure to instill this same work ethic into his children.
Doug was a devoted husband to Diane Knight West of Thomasville, and a loving father to Anqelique Noire of Thomasville, GA, Bradley Lamar West of Waterford, CA, Jessica McKibben (Josh), Melissa Bass, Autumn Adams (Wesley), and Cory Knight (Shaina), siblings, Lafils Gilbert of St. Cloud, FL, and Annette Stroud of Ocala, FL, and nine grandchildren. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sherrold Bradley.
A Memorial Service will be held at Gatlin Creek Baptist Church on Friday – April 4th, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Lyle Witcher officiating.
