Ellen Joyce (Hobbs) Green, aged 92, passed gently into Heaven on August 28th, 2025. Just as the sun was rising over the eastern sky, her precious soul was rising to embrace her Lord Jesus, her husband John F. Hobbs and her recently departed son, Randy Hobbs. Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her father and mother Tom Watson White and Annie Belle White. Born on September 12, 1932, Joyce was the first of ten children born to this family. In recent years older brother Garrett White, and two sisters passed away, Judy White and Betty White. Sisters Patsy (Pat) Abell, Grace Black, Marilyn Dempsey (David), and twin sister Carolyn continue to represent this founding Thomas County family.

In 1948, Joyce and her future husband, John Hobbs met at the area "swimming hole" where all the teens hung out on Sunday afternoon. Soon after they were married, and in October of 1949, their first son Johnny Colburn Hobbs was born and three years later on September 9th 1952, brother Randy was born.

Joyce's greatest passion was serving her Lord Jesus, and being a wife and mother! During her lifetime it seemed it was to be her lot in life to be a caretaker of first her own siblings, later her mother and father, then her husband, then the two sisters who have passed, and lastly of her two sons, both of whom inherited kidney disease. Over the past ten years or so she has stood by her boys side through thick and thin, being their prayer warrior, their greatest encourager, and a constant shoulder to lean on. When Joyce lost her husband to kidney disease and heart attack at age 57, who buckled down, made a new life for herself, and continued to serve and work hard as she had done her entire life. Several years later, mom met, dated and then married a wonderful Christian man, Dock Green. They got to spend almost eleven years together before God called Dock home.

Today Mrs. Joyce (Hobbs) Green is rejoicing in the presence of numerous family members, friends, and fellow church members. There is a joyous reunion going on right now, and she is right in the middle of it. For those of us who loved and cherished her, it is a bittersweet time. But our Lord was always in control and HE still is in control today. To God be the glory for this amazing, one of a kind lady who graced all the lives she touched.
