It is with sadness that we share the loss of Douglas Hamilton Allen, who passed away on December 24, 2024, at age 62. Doug was born on July 4, 1962, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Doug was a dedicated husband, a wonderful father, a loving brother, and forever remembered for his humor and intelligence. He was incredibly loyal to both his alma matres, Rice University and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. He also received the designation of CFA in 1998.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Eloise and Ben Allen Sr. He is survived by his wife Julie, his son Riley, and his daughter Philippa, as well as his brother Ben Jr. (Stephanie) and David (Luis), and his extended family. In addition, Doug's life was marked by his deep friendships from all stages of his life, from his childhood and college years to his time in New York City, Houston, Northbrook, as well as Fairhope and Magnolia Springs.
A celebration of Doug's life will be held on Tuesday, January 7 at 12pm CT at St. Paul's Episcopal Chapel in Magnolia Springs, Alabama. All those who knew and loved Doug are invited to attend the service, as well as a reception at his and Julie's home at 11717 Magnolia Street in Magnolia Springs immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Paul's Episcopal Chapel in Magnolia Springs, Alabama.
And we'd be remiss not to include Doug's advice: "If you're ever offered the opportunity to get MS, decline!"
Expressions of condolence for Doug's family may be made at www.hughesfh.com.
Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Rd of Daphne, AL is assisting the family.

Doug and I were close friends since meeting in August of 1984. A solid roommate in Evanston and NYC, a travel companion on many adventures, a gentleman and gentle soul. Doug had an easy humor and a love for family and friends that was heartfelt. He will be missed by all who loved him.

Dear Julie, Riley and Phillippa,

Neil and I were saddened to learn of Doug's passing. We enjoyed our lunches together in Illinois during the summers. Doug was always so positive about treatments and ALWAYS spoke of you all fondly. We will always remember him as one of the most positive and joyful persons.

Please celebrate a life well lived on Tuesday. He will always be with you so remember him fondly.
