Douglas Larry Chabassol, 76, of Gilmore/McDonald, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025, at Donnell House in Washington, Pennsylvania, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on November 24, 1948, in Canonsburg, Doug was the son of the late Edward and Marion Chabassol. He was the middle of three children and is survived by his sister, Sharon Chabassol of Greenville, SC. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Chabassol (Mary Jo) of Washington, PA.

A 1968 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School, Doug built a lifelong career in the automotive industry. His hands and heart found purpose in places like Wiils Texaco, Wolmandorf Trucking, Johns Exxon, Russo's Auto Service, Imperatore Ford, Dealer Parts and Auto Paint & Equipment. Known for his skill and dedication, Doug was the person many turned to when their vehicles-and often their days-needed fixing.

Doug's passions included drag racing, attending car shows and cruises (the AMC/American Motors guy), watching TV and movies, reading, and collecting firearms. A devoted fan of football and baseball, he also found deep joy in simple moments shared with family and friends. Among his greatest treasures were the times spent with his nieces and nephews-Kristopher (Anya) Hornak, Stephen (Elissa) Chabassol, and Yvonne Chabassol-and his seven great-nieces and nephews, whose lives he touched deeply.

Doug's circle extended beyond family. He held dear the lifelong friendship of Denny and Linda Barsody, who stood by him for more than 50 years, and was especially grateful for the support of his cousin, Wayne Zaccarino.

Those who knew Doug will remember him for his generosity, his quiet strength, and his unwavering willingness to help-often without being asked. He had a kind heart and a steady presence that left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Concordia Hospice Team at Donnell House for their compassionate care during Doug's final days.

In accordance with Doug's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A celebration of his life will take place on June 28, 2025 at 2 pm, Cecil American Legion, 3323 Millers Run Rd., Cecil, PA where friends and family will gather to remember the man who gave so much of himself to others.

Doug's spirit lives on in the lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed.
