Douglas Benjamin Cosey, Sr.
1946 – 2024
Douglas Benjamin Cosey, Sr. departed his earthly life on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at age 77. He was born on November 19, 1946, to Scott Cosey and Clara Smith Cosey. He was married to the late Williemae Cosey and to their union they had 5 children: Bernice Vinnette, Michele Johnson, Douglas Cosey, Jr., Vanessa LaBranche, and Stacie Cosey.
Douglas was a graduate of Fifth Ward High School. He enjoyed playing baseball. He made a career as a construction worker.
He is preceded in eternal life by his wife the late Williemae Cosey, his parents Scott and Clara Cosey. His sister Goldie Smith. His brother's Joseph, Williams, John, Edward, and Melvin Cosey. Also, his grandson Jacquel Cosey.
Douglas leaves to cherish his memories of children; Bernice Vinnette, Michele Johnson, Douglas Cosey, Jr., Vanessa LaBranche, and Stacie Cosey. His sister Claire (William) Power and his brother Danny Smith and Glenn Love. He also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Greater Golden Grove Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Greater Golden Grove Baptist Church, 127 S. Mulberry St., Rev. Ulyssess Jarreau, Pastor-Officiant. Visitation 9:00am until time of service at above-named church. Interment St. John Memorial Gardens, 2205 W. Airline Hwy, Laplace, LA 70068. Final Arrangements Entrusted to Patrick H. Sanders Funeral Home & Funeral Directors, LLC.,605 Main Street, Laplace, LA 70068. 985-359-1919. "Providing Care & Comfort is Our Highest Mission".
