Douglas Gilbert Deppe

Douglas G Deppe passed away on Nov 14, 2025 at home in Penrose, Colorado. He was born on January 26th, 1951, in Florence Colorado. Doug spent his early years farming in St Francis, Kansas and later worked at Cotter Uranium plant in Canon City, Colorado. Doug then went back to school for Criminal Justice and went on to work a distinguished career with the Department of Corrections, where he served for 26 years. Rising through the ranks, Douglas retired with the rank Lieutenant - a testament to his leadership and dedication. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Cythia Lea (Boorom) Deppe; his son, Adam Douglas Deppe and daughter-in-law Melissa (Dafoe) Deppe; his daughter Amanda Dorhelen DeppeCarter and former son-in-law Michael Carter; and his cherished grandchildren Sophia Deppe and Bodhi Deppe Carter. Douglas also leaves behind his brother Dan Deppe and wife Emma; sister Joan (Deppe) Goodall and husband Larry Gudall; brother Jimmy Deppe; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Douglas is preceded in death by his father Robert A. Deppe; mother Dorothy A (Sherlock) Deppe; second father Francis Sherlock; and second mother Thema (Bolin) Sherlock. A man of quiet strength and enduring commitment, Douglas will be deeply missed. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing. A service and reception will be held on December 5th, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Wilson Funeral Home 1449 S 9th, Canon City CO 81212. Interment to follow at Mountain Vale Cemetery, Canon City.
