Robert Muth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson Funeral Home - Canon City on Jan. 14, 2026.
Robert (Bob) Frederick Muth, 76, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by family on January 12, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on April 6, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas, Robert lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to his family and country.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Robert served with distinction as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War. His bravery and sacrifice were recognized with the awarding of the Purple Heart-an honor that spoke not only to his courage in battle but also to his enduring commitment to service. Though he rarely spoke of his time in uniform, those who knew him understood the depth of character forged through those experiences.

Bob's life was deeply rooted in faith. A devoted believer in God, he lived quietly but purposefully, letting his actions speak louder than his words. His faith was not something he wore loudly- it was something he lived daily, reflected in his kindness, humility, and steady compassion for others. Soft-spoken by nature, he was never one to demand attention. Yet when he spoke about the things that truly mattered to him- his faith, his family, his values- his words carried depth, sincerity, and conviction.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally Lee Muth (Muhme); his parents, Frederick Estel Muth and Marilyn Margaret Muth (Link),; and his brother, John Ingram. Bob and Sally met in Steamboat Springs where they later married and had their two children. They then moved to Hayden to continue raising their family. Years later they moved their family to Salida where they welcomed grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Laura (Derald) Brady and son, Brian (Angela) Muth. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Robert (Madie) Muth, Anthony (Shelby) Muth, Katie (Lucas) Justice-Anderson, and Brandon Muth. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Charlie Muth, Jaxton Muth, Roman Muth, and Stetson Muth. He is also survived by siblings, Mark (Benna) Muth and Nick Muth; sisters, Janice Myers (Ingram) and Beverly Adams (Ingram).

Robert's life was one of quiet dignity-a man who never sought the spotlight, but whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around him. He will be remembered not only for what he believed, but for how he lived- faithfully, humbly, and with a deeply caring heart.

May his memory bring peace to those who mourn him and inspiration to those who carry forward the values he held dear. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Wilson Funeral Home: 1449 S. 9th Street Canon City CO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse or Wounded Warriors Project.
