Doug enjoyed singing, painting, wood working, and working.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lydia (Walton) Dieckmann; two children Amanda (Cory) Olsen of Manorville, NY, and Joshua (Sheila) Dieckmann of Cary, NC; three grandchildren Warren Olsen, Douglas Olsen, and Harlock Dieckman; one sister Judy (Michael) Hall of Millsboro, DE; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents and one sister Linda Sevren.
