Douglas “Doug” Charrier, 89, of East Moline, Illinois, passed Thursday, February 26, 2026, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the MPN Research Foundation in honor of Doug’s courageous battle with myelofibrosis.
Douglas “Doug” Charrier was born on February 22, 1937, in Natchez, Mississippi, to Charles and Adaline (Wilkersen) Charrier. From a young age, Doug and his three brothers displayed an entrepreneurial spirit. They began by hunting alligators in the swamps and later worked on riverboats shrimping and catching crabs. Throughout his life, Doug pursued many ventures, including selling jewelry, operating an ice cream truck, and providing lawn care services.
He had a passion for finding furniture and antiques to refurbish and sell, and he was an avid coin collector, always on the lookout for a 1943 copper coin.
Doug is survived by his children, Aquanetta, Darnell, Chablay, Demetria, Antoinettia “Scoop”, Jeffrey, Anita, Ivanna, and Crystal; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Audria, Charlie, Eugene, and Huey Charrier.
