Douglas R. Fuchs

With tears in our eyes and hearts full of loving memories, we memorialize the life of Douglas "Doug" R. Fuchs.
Brought into this world on March 13,1958, Doug, a New Jersey native, began sketching the plans of his life. Doug's creativity was initiated with a print of his feet in his birth place, Jersey City. His childhood, spent alongside siblings and friends, was rooted in Livingston while summers were spent on the Jersey Shore.
Art and innovation were second nature for Doug. Whether it was rebuilding a friend's stock bike to a one-of-a-kind street machine or endless drawings in his school notebook, Doug found peace in creation. He extended his pallet while attending Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts; and after a year, moved to Colorado to earn his associates degree in advertising, design and graphic arts at the Colorado Institute of Art.
For the last 40+ years, Doug has operated a remodeling business working on 100+ year old homes. In the interim, his wife gifted him his first digital camera. Primarily self taught in this field, Doug soon found himself "hooked on" Painter and hasn't strayed since. With this, Doug has become a published artist, with artwork adorning gallery walls and has been commissioned by several of his clients.
Remaining to cherish Doug's memory, his adoring and loving wife Deborah Collins; daughter, Nicole Collins; son, C.J. Collins & wife, Lindsay Collins; grandchildren, Benjamin Masterson and Skylar Collins; brother Steve Fox; two nieces, Alison and Chrissy; his nephew, Stephen; and life-long friends Pat and Beth Ginefra.
A life with a passion for capturing the essence of the world through his art, a soul with compassion for all things living, a husband and father who's endless strength and devotion encompassed his family with love and protection, will forever have his etching on our hearts.
A visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday January 27, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Ely Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow promptly at 6:00 pm.
