Douglas Hecox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel on Aug. 5, 2025.
A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Doug Hecox, 84, of Camas, Washington, passed away peacefully at his home July 25, 2025. He quickly succumbed to liver and kidney disease. Doug was born on April 21, 1941, to parents Stuart and Nina Hecox in Dearborn, Michigan. He resided in Camas for the past 7 years, having moved from California where he lived in Grass Valley, Palos Verdes, and adjacent cities in Southern California. He graduated from Mt Vernon High School in Virginia in 1959 and received a BS in Business Administration from UCLA in 1964, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Doug worked as an auditor at Security Bank before starting at Disney Studios in the Personnel department. In the 80's and 90's he was the Personnel Director at Kenneth Leventhal which transitioned into Ernst and Young, where he retired in 1999. He was a member of ASUCLA Board of Directors from 2000-2005 and served as President and Executive Board member of the Alta Sierra Country Club in Grass Valley, California. Doug was fond of traveling and took trips with his wife, Karen, to Antarctica, South America, France, Germany, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Russia, the Baltic Sea area, and took a river cruise to the Black Sea. Family trips to Avalon on Catalina Island were a staple for many summers. Doug was an avid golf fan and skillfully hit a hole-in-one at Alta Vista Golf Course in 2014. Doug is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen Hecox; son Dave Hecox and wife Jessica, grandchildren Cade Hecox, Lindsay Hecox, and Andrew Hecox; brother Jon Hecox and wife Judy; sister Vicki Johannes and husband Norm; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Stu and Nina and son Jeff Hecox. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2025, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, Washington. Interment will follow at 4:00pm.
