Thank you Rabbi Lander for the sustaining Jewish life you created for myself and other Amherst students in the 1980s.

We have such warm and wonderful memories of Rabbi Lander! We knew him in so many ways, over the years, through his work at Smith College, at the Lander Grinspoon Academy, and through his wonderful wife, Rose Lander, our daughter's legendary Suzuki violin teacher of many years. We visited their home every week for 9 years, because of the violin. What a great and productive life and force in our lucky community, all these many years! May his beautiful spirit rest in peace. xoxox Jonathan and Meg Kelsey Wright

Rest in Peace

I worked with Rabbi Lander at Hillel at Smith, but I had known him for many years since he lived very near to my family, Stanley and Dorothy Elkins. When I graduated and decided to get married several years later, my fiancé and I asked Rabbi Lander if he would marry us at Helen Hills Hills Chapel on Smith campus. And he agreed. He wanted to be sure first we understood the importance of Judaism in our lives before we took our vows. He made us think about our plans and future together in a very serious way. We both appreciated that. And here in Kansas we have been leaders in our small synagogue for more than 50 years. May his name be a blessing and we send our deepest condolences to his family.

My condolences to the family of Rabbi Lander. I got to know him through our participation in the board of Commonwealth Opera. I found him thoughtful and passionate about our projects. He always exuded warmth and caring. It was an honor to know this remarkable man.

Rabbi Lander was a most remarkable man and leader. How fortunate we all are that he lived and worked amongst us.
