Douglas Hysinger Obituary
He leaves behind his loving wife of 71 years, Peggy Frances Jones Hysinger; three daughters, Theresa Wilson & husband Mike of London, KY, Krenda Anders & husband Tony of London, KY, Lori Duff & husband Alan of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren, Terenda Cromer, Tori St. Thomas, Blake Brock, Douglas Duff, Kevin Duff, Hayden Wilson; seven great and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Hysinger & Lucille Linville Hysinger.
The family would like to acknowledge and express our appreciation for the Hospice Care Team and other caregivers including Sue Wooton, Velva and Brenda.
Douglas was a devoted husband, father, and public servant that dedicated 24 years of his life to the Kentucky State Police, serving with steady courage, integrity, and an unwavering sense of duty. He was deeply honored to wear the uniform and took great pride in protecting the people of his community.
Away from his career, Douglas was happiest outdoors. He loved camping under the stars and spending long days fishing with those closest to him. He was a native of Rockcastle County who enjoyed working the land, tending to his farm, and finding peace in the simple rhythms of nature. But no matter where he was, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Douglas will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his gentle spirit, and the genuine kindness he showed to others. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched-through his service, his friendship, and his love.
A funeral service honoring Douglas Hysinger will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 1:00 pm. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Wes Hamlin officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmwood cemetery in Mt. Vernon, KY. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour, which will also be at the funeral home. The pallbearers will be Fred Wooten, Kenton Jones, Tony Anders, Alan Duff, Justin Brock and Sam St. John. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Jones, Mike Wilson, Hayden Wilson, Douglas Duff, Kevin Duff, Trevor Jones, Matthew Wooten, Brexton Cromer and Calan Cromer. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.

I have known Doug and Peggy for about 62 years. I always remember Peggy and me going to Harlan CO to visit the guys after they got out of the academy and started work. The Hysingers were good people.

i want to remember Douglas as one of my special residents at Hilcrest, he was always ringing his call light, I would always go in his room and peek around the corner in his room and say well hello Douglas what can I do for ya!! lol he would always tell me with a big grin on his face, that's the person I was looking for every single time he was such a pleasant person to care for I always enjoyed his time there
