Following his military chapter, he committed himself to another noble profession as a Correctional Officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. In this role, he exemplified sincerity and responsibility, bringing a sense of honor to a challenging vocation.
Family was the cornerstone of Douglas's life; he cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories filled with warmth and laughter. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Kari Maddox, and son-in-law, Roger Maddox, along with his brother, Fredrick Kirkland. The bonds they shared will forever echo in their hearts, a testament to his generous spirit and loving nature.
