Douglas Edward Liebling, born on February 9, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 2, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a dedicated and loving husband, brother, and friend who touched many with his generosity, sense of humor and passion.

Douglas earned a BA degree in History with a Missouri Lifetime Teaching Certificate. He had a 25 year career with Mazda North America Operations, during which he had a vital role in writing technical manuals and teaching technicians in the Gulf Region processes and safety procedures essential to the company. His commitment to education and mentorship resonated within the workplace.

He cherished his family deeply, always prioritizing their well-being and happiness. After retiring, Doug loved the opportunity to spend time with his beloved wife, Johanna Beth Liebling, with whom he shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed trips to RMNP and the coastlines of the Pacific Northwest States, where Doug found joy in hiking and photographing the beauty of the mountains, wildlife and oceans - immersing himself in nature’s beauty.

Douglas loved music - especially classic oldies, classic antique cars and visiting car shows. He used his love for photography to capture precious moments and lasting memories for their families.

He is survived by his wife Beth Liebling; His brother Gary Liebling (Stephanie); his sister Jan Byrne; brother-in-law Mick Byrne; sisters-in-law Connie Chambers, Julie Larocco (Rob) and Cindy Miller (Bill); nephews Riley and Derek Byrne; as well as too many nieces and nephews on his wife’s side to list. They will all miss him dearly.

Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Lee Liebling, and his mother, Margaret Liebling.

The Celebration of Life will be held at Gashland Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 8029 North Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64118 on Friday, November 22nd from 11:30am - 1:00pm.
