Douglas "Doug" R. McGinnis, age 77, of Nekoosa, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, with Rev. Nathan Byes presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00am until the time of service at noon.
Doug was born on May 12, 1947, in Beloit, WI to Raymond and Hazel (Dockerty) McGinnis. He graduated from Brown Deer High in 1965 and then earned an Associate Degree from Fox Valley Tech. Doug worked for Stokley USA, until his retirement in 2009.
Doug married Belinda Peckham on May 22, 1982. He was a member of World Wildlife Federation. He enjoyed wood working, spending time with his family, and going to his favorite restaurant ever, Olympic II. Doug loved to help others, he was passionate about many charities including, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the South Wood Humane Society, and Tunnels to Towers.
Doug is survived by his wife, Belinda McGinnis; sons, Toby (Katrina) Allison and Douglas McGinnis Jr.; daughter, Virginia Miller; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Treisa (Rick); and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Hazel; sisters, Ernestine, Jackie, and Margaret; brothers, James and Michael McGinnis; sister-in-law, Christine McGinnis; 8 uncles; and 7 aunts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doug's name to South Wood Humane Society or Tunnels to Towers.
The family would like to thank Amanda and Jessica from Marshfield Clinic for the compassionate care given to Doug.
