Douglas Kenneth Parker, of Monticello, IN, died unexpectedly on Sept. 30, 2025 at age 57, receiving besitos from his devoted wife, Cinthia. His family and friends were shocked and deeply saddened by his passing.
Doug was born on April 28, 1968 to Dolores and the late Robert Parker in Baltimore, MD. He is survived and loved by his children, Halle and Jonathan; his stepson, Gabriel; his big brother, Keith, and little sister, Denise; his mother, Dolores; his uncle, James a.k.a "Jimmy;" his aunts, Sharon and Carlene; and his childhood best friends, Bobby Blubaugh and Andrew Walsh. Also survived by the mother of his children, Robin. He leaves behind innumerable broken hearts and friends across the U.S., Bolivia, Dominican Republic and beyond.
Doug grew up in
Westminster, MD. From the start, he loved sports. His athleticism radiated on the golf course and basketball court. He played varsity golf at Westminster High School (Class of 1986) and was recruited to Radford University's golf team.
As a handsome young man, with a full head of hair, his fun-loving nature and charm meant Doug never went without a date to the dance. He was always the life of the party - even if that wasn't great for his grades.
Charismatic, talkative and kind-hearted, Doug made an impression everywhere he went. He was a natural-born salesman, never afraid to try out a new business idea. He loved working for himself, from selling maps and phone cards to telecommunications to mini-RC race cars and cheesecake, among numerous other ventures. Conversations - including in Spanish - and friends came easily, as did new dreams for his life.
His latest dream was his best yet. Doug had recently purchased a special, seasonal frozen yogurt shop in the peaceful lake resort town of Monticello, Indiana.
Doug planned to turn Skipper's Frozen Yogurt into a year-round business, aiming to expand from frozen treats to include coffee and sandwiches. He wanted to create a warm cafe for Monticello in the winter. He had already set the wheels in motion to help make this dream a reality before his time was cut tragically short.
Always the traveler, Doug was ready to settle down and build a home for retirement. A place where he and his wife could live in tranquility, surrounded by kind people. Where they could host their children and family.
His wife, Cinthia, wants to thank all the emergency responders who tried to bring Doug back to life, especially one paramedic, Yaritza, who helped translate the situation and stayed with her through the night. His family would also like to thank the community of Monticello for their unforgettable and moving support for them, and Skipper's, after his death. In just two months, Doug had already done what he does best: touch the hearts of countless new friends.
Doug will be forever remembered for his endless curiosity, his candor, intelligence, gift of gab, dance moves and the twinkle in his eye, as though a punchline was always around the corner.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 2pm at Pritts Funeral Home, 412 Washington Rd,
Westminster, MD. A visitation will begin at 1pm.
After, Doug will be interred at Meadow Branch Cemetery.
