Douglas was my oldest brother and my friend. We talked several times a week and I miss that.
He and I went fishing, crabbing and floundering a lot when we were kids. We would go to Moses pier and spend the whole night fishing.
He was the kindest person I've known and he didn't ever meet a stranger. If you treated him and his family with respect you got it back from him.
He fought in 'Nam as a door gunner in a helicopter. Protecting our men on the ground or on medical evac.
He worked at his church unloading, stocking and handing out "care packages" to those who needed a little help with food.
He is already being and will always be missed because he will live on in my heart and the hearts and minds of those who he knew.
That's why a donation to a food bank would be exactly what Doug Jr. would want instead of flowers.
Praying that God will bless and comfort all his family and friends.
Goodbye brother and watch for me, I'll be in heaven one day and I pray that the fish are biting!!

Doug was one of my first friends I met when I moved to Mississippi for a state job. We connected as veterans and had similar interests which only expanded over the years. Sorry to hear of his passing and condolences to his family. I miss his humor and the many kindnesses towards me.
