Douglas E. Roman, 67, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Gibson Family Hospice Center. He retired as a Industrial Electrician from Ampacet on May 1, 2024. He was born September 22, 1957 in Terre Haute to Eugene and Wilma (Jenkins) Roman. Douglas is survived by his wife, Brenda (Higgins) Roman whom he married September 17, 1988; daughter, Selina Mitchel (Jeramie); son, Shayne Roman (Esther); grandchildren, Lena Kerr, Camdin Kerr, Garrhet Mitchel and Elliot Roman; siblings, Dennis Roman (Gail), Judy Phillips (Jack Clouse), Daniel Roman (Leslie): his father-in-law Robert Higgins (Becky Steadman): his beloved cat Callie, dog B.J. and many chickens. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet Roman Kuhn; brother In-law, Fred Kuhn III; mother In-law, Nancy (Edmonson) Higgins; and brother in-law, Bryan Higgins. Doug was a loving husband, father, papaw and friend. He was an avid golfer and loved his trips to Gulf Shores with the guys. He enjoyed watching his grandkids sporting events, going to once a month family get togethers and pool parties. He loved to sit by the ocean to watch the dolphins and storms roll in. He enjoyed playing poker with the nickname of "Stacks". He also loved singing while smoking a cigar and listening to music. At events he was the life of the party, especially if there was dancing involved, as he enjoyed that so much! He stayed in touch with his close-knit Schulte friends, golf buddies and work family. Doug loved deeply and was deeply loved. He will be missed by family and friends.

Doug was a fine young man and very good baseball player and wrestler at Schulte. I have fond memories of him when he was at Schulte. Allways intense and ready to play ball or wrestle. Super kid to have on your team. Coach Effner

It´s always a shock to hear of a classmates death. Brenda, I´m sorry for your loss and the pain it may be causing you. I always enjoyed being around both of you - very kind and friendly couple . I had the opportunity to play golf with Doug and friends a few times. Doug always amazed me at the natural talent he had for most sports including golf.
I hope his memories help to put a smile on your face and comfort you during this time. May God´s Light shine down on you and relieve the sorrow in your heart.

Thoughts and prayers for the family and close friends. Never a dull moment with Doug. I remember Doug emptying my golf bag of balls hitting them over the river in Bettendorf, Iowa in between matches at a 7´s rugby tournament. Typical. You´ll be missed by many Doug.
