DOUGLAS SCHUSTER Obituary

SCHUSTER, Douglas C. "Doug" Age 61, of Sudbury, passed away on December 4, 2022, peacefully surrounded by his loving family and close friends, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Christine Schuster; his children, Kimberly Schuster of Boston, MA, and Kaitlin Schuster of Sudbury, MA; and his brother and sister-in-law, Neal and Mei Schuster of Danvers, MA; and many cousins and long-time friends he dearly loved. Beloved son of Rita Schuster and the late Jack Schuster of Exeter, NH. Doug was born and raised in New York. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Duke University and a Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He worked at Draeger Medical for 38 years, dedicated to designing patient monitoring systems. Doug enjoyed problem-solving with his dedicated colleagues. He had a deep passion for technology, always researching the latest innovations at work and at home. The greatest joy in Doug's life was being father to Kimberly and Kaitlin. He took immense pride in their accomplishments in the classroom and beyond. He loved spending time with his family exploring the world on their vacations and enjoying time on Cape Cod. Doug left this world knowing his family is comforted by many memories of pride, love, and laughter. He will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to the Cold Feet Warm Hearts Foundation, www.coldfeetwarmhearts.org c/o Middlesex Savings Bank, 7 Digital Way, Maynard, MA 01754.

This is Kimmy´s roommate from college. I remember her telling me about the special holiday traditions she shared with Doug. He loved her a lot and her safety was his number one priority-this was especially apparent during the apartment search. Kimmy, Kaitlin, and Chris continue to be in our thoughts.

About two days ago, I learned the news of Doug's passing and was totally shocked. I met Doug through his precious daughter Kimmy. She was my daughter's roommate in college. The entire Schuster family was very kind and friendly when we all met. The girls got along great. During their sophomore year, Kimmy decided to look for an apartment off campus and later decided to buy. As a Realtor in Texas, I was able to assist with this purchase, and that's when I really got to know Doug. He was very thorough in the transaction process and had detailed questions along the way. Believe me, if he was not satisfied with the answer, he would press further until he was fully satisfied. I like to say he kept me on my "A-game." Through the entire process via phone calls and emails, I got to know Doug in a way that I wouldn't have otherwise. You could see that he and Kimmy had a great father-daughter relationship, and he had her best interests at heart. My deepest sympathies for Chris, Kimmy, Kaitlin, and the entire Schuster extended family.

Christine and family,
I am so sorry and shocked to learn about Doug's passing away today. Doug and I worked closely together at Draeger and Siemens for more than a decade. Doug was such a gentle soul and he made working with him so much more enjoyable no matter how challenging the projects were. He took so much pride in many of his children's achievements.
My thoughts and prayer are with you and family during this difficult time.

I am so sorry to hear about Doug's passing. I worked closely with Doug at Draeger on a few projects from around 2011 to 2019, and traveled with him to Bangalore - I have good memories of things like pulling the lettuce off our "McVeg" sandwiches to avoid getting sick at a McDonald's before our midnight flight out of there. He was really a great guy to work with - I felt like he was one of the few special people who "kept the lights on" at the company. My dad passed away a couple of years ago at 65 after a number of years of dealing with late stage prostate cancer, and so I might be able to relate some small amount to what you are going through. My thoughts are with you Christine, Kimberly, Kaitlin, and family.

I am at a loss of words to relay how very sorry I am. We spent many hours on the beach together, and there was no question that his family was the most important thing in his life. I will always think of Doug whenever I walk that beach. The world was truly a better place because of him. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with Doug, his family, and anyone blessed enough to of known him......
