Douglas SCHWAB

August 18, 1953 - October 15, 2025

Spokane - With heavy hearts we write that Douglas Kevin Schwab, born August 18, 1953, died October 15, 2025, in Spokane, Washington. Doug was the son of Joe and Dorothy (Newman) Schwab.

Doug attended Mead schools, Gonzaga Prep, and graduated from Mead High School. As a young man he learned to play the guitar and enjoyed writing. Until the end he enjoyed reading scientific magazines and the newspaper every day.

Doug began working for the City of Spokane parks department the year of Expo '74, later transferring to Riverfront Park and eventually becoming foreman of the maintenance department. After retirement, he worked for the Northern Quest Casino as a card dealer until recently. He enjoyed his coworkers there and was grateful to the Kalispel Indian Tribe for their generosity and help while fighting cancer.

Doug is remembered for his sense of humor. He was fun to talk to, a good listener, and was a kind, sensitive, and good man. He is survived by wife, Lori; daughter, Brittany Sicilia (Jon); sons, Shaun and Patrick (Heather); two wonderful grandchildren, Rowen and Cole; his siblings, Joe (Carolyn), Linda, Steve (Jeannette), Rick, and Julie Hoseid (Jerry); and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Doug's life will be planned for a future date. Any donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or other cancer research organizations with appreciation.
