Douglas was born on November 1, 1958 in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, the son of the late James and Doreen Willock Switzer. On May 5, 1984 he married the former Marcia Marx who survives at home.
Douglas was employed by Benchmark Education where he was a software engineer. He was a member of the East Wappingers Falls Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Douglas was an avid woodworker, making furniture and remodeling his home. He loved all things computer and enjoyed hiking to enjoy the beauty of nature.
In addition to his wife, Marcia, he is survived by his children, Andrew Switzer, Nicholas Switzer, Philip Alex Switzer and Sarah Switzer; his sister, Barbara Bevins; his brother, Stephen Switzer; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on October 28, 2023 at 1:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 383 All Angels Hill Road, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533.
