Douglas Tyler Sr.

Cottekill - Douglas Tyler Sr., 80, born August 26, 1945, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Golden Hill Nursing and Rehab Center in Kingston. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who dedicated his life to his beloved family and community.
Doug was a co-owner and operator of Doug Tyler and Son, a local auto and truck parts business, along with vehicle recycling and container services. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication made the business a staple in the community.

An avid dirt track enthusiast, Doug was a former driver and owner of race cars in Northeast New York and neighboring states. For over 60 years, he was a passionate and active member of the Accord Speedway community, where his love for racing and camaraderie thrived.

Alongside his love for racing, Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR races, and gambling. Known for his warm personality, he had the unique ability to strike up a conversation with everyone he met.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Fran Tyler; his son, Douglas Tyler Jr., and daughter-in-law, Cindy; grandsons Douglas Tyler III and Danny Tyler (Showtime); granddaughters Renee and Ryleigh Tyler; his brother, Wayne Tyler; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Louise Johnson Tyler, sister Nancy Tyler, daughter Debbie Tyler, grandson Nicholas Brendan Tyler, brothers Arthur and Ronald Tyler, niece Carrie Tyler, sister in law Ida Tyler and nephew Wayne Tyler Jr.

Doug's legacy of love, dedication, and community spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4 to 8 PM Wednesday October 8 at the George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., 2053 Route 32, Rosendale. His funeral service will be 11 AM Thursday at the funeral Home. Rev. Arlene Dawber will officiate. Interment will follow at the Rosendale Plains Cemetery in Tillson.
