Doyle Blumer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Doyle Philo Blumer 77, of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on August 19, 1948 in Taloga, Oklahoma to Lovie and Ada Louise (Philo) Blumer. He fulfilled his wish and dream to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at his residence in Elk City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.
Doyle was the only boy and next to the youngest born of ten sisters, Lavada, Ardeth, Beth, Mary, Colleen, Ireta, Nancy, Carole, Twila, and Gwen. He lived and was raised in Vici, Oklahoma most his entire life on the Blumer homestead. He attended Vici High School, Vici, Oklahoma and graduated with the class of 1966, then went to college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1969, where he studied accounting.
In 1973, he moved back at the farm in Vici, Oklahoma to help his mother and pick up the farming after his dad passed.
While living back at home, he made sure his mother got back and forth to church where it didn't take long for him to turn his life back to Christ.
Later he became a Trustee in the Assembly of God Church in Seiling, Oklahoma. He was also a CA youth leader, and a Royle Ranger Commander in the church. He cared, nothing about camping, he always said if it was so great why did God invent indoors? He hated eating with flies, but he did it cause his main goal was them boys teaching them the importance about God and what it takes to serve and be a man of God.
In 1979, Doyle met, Ivadale Warner at the Assembly of God Church in Seiling, Oklahoma, where he attended.
Right before the service started, Doyle had walked out of a side door, when Ivadale's mother poked her and said, " There's your husband" Which she replied, "He looks to old mom" she said, "Well that's him anyway." They began to date in May of 81 and married on September 5, 1981, where their life began in Vici, Oklahoma on the Blumer homestead. Ivadale was a housewife while he worked as a diesel mechanic.
Then in February of 82 they became so excited about the coming new addition that would be added, but God had other plans, and took their baby, Angel Lynnette to be with him on May 13, 1982. But then in June of 1983 they were excited once again of the news of a new arrival coming. On March 30, 1984, Dollie Louise was born. Then in August 1985 they were told exciting news about another bundle of joy was to arrival. On May 16,1986 James Doyle had landed... Doyle loved his kids, always talked about them and about how proud he was being a dad...
While on the farm as his son grew up, he enjoyed teaching him what it took to care for the farm. At age four he let him set on his lap to teach him how to drive the pickup. Doyle was so proud of his kids, he would go out in the yard and help them get ready for softball and baseball games, he loved seeing all their accomplishments and watching them grow up into a young man and young woman. Dollie did many things with her dad as well, taught her how to drive in the field as well, and even hit the fence, but was an easy fix.
They lived in Vici till 2004, in which they moved to Elk City, Oklahoma where he later retired. Doyle enjoyed his life, being a husband, then so proud being a dad, father-in-law, a so proud being a grandpa five times. He enjoyed going to their games etc. having to say who colored the best picture, of course it was always the one they would tell him to say. lol
Even though he was so proud and so blessed, he always talked about going home, his last days he always said, I'm not asking for God to heal me, I just want to know his plan, I want whatever he has for me, if it's to stay on this earth or go home, I just want his plan. Doyle talked a lot about faith, he loved being a Sunday school teacher, which in every lesson he would talk some about faith. He also many times, talked to his kids about God, and prayed with them, making sure their lives we ready. Before he went to be with the Lord, he witnessed to everyone he could.
